Angela Fischetti

Angela Fischetti was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 12, 1958. She recalls how one day, at the age of nine, she heard a beautiful voice playing at a local record store -- a voice that transfixed her attention. She asked the store clerk who was singing and learned that it was Judy Garland, whose mesmerizing voice she knew well from the Wizard of Oz. It was that uncanny recognition of Garland's voice singing "You Made Me Love You" that lead young Angela to start singing at the age of 10, taking voice lessons and performing in school plays, always inspired by the depth of Garland's artistry.

At the age of 19, Angela stopped singing to focus on acting at the Stella Adler Conservatory, where she studied on scholarship directly under the guidance of Stella Adler.

Angela stopped performing altogether at age 25 as she got more involved producing showcase theater in New York City.   During these years, her passion for fitness began to grow.   Ultimately, she left the world of the stage, devoting herself to fitness as a personal trainer for 22 years.

Angela's work with infirm and ill clients represented her first step toward a more spiritual approach to fitness.   Personal events in the months leading to 9/11 only reinforced this path.

Angela had already made plans to move to South Florida when 9/11 took place.   Three weeks afterwards she found herself settling in Miami Beach.   Angela knew far too many people who perished as a result of that event and on the wake of the tragedy, she became a student once again.   Angela enrolled in a yoga teacher training course, during which time her father passed away.

In the depths of personal and collective grief, Angela rediscovered her first love: singing. Through yoga, she not only found a new way to dedicate herself to fitness, but also a means to reignite her passion for singing.   Song was now inextricably linked to the art of healing and the path of devotion.   Thirty-six years after first hearing Judy Garland sing at the record store, Angela started to come full circle, retracing the steps of her amazing life journey.

Angela's next step was the album ENTER THE LIGHT, in which she offers songs of joy and devotion.   To learn more about the album and what inspired it, click here.

Currently, she performs standards and world music in Miami restaurants, art galleries, private functions and Florida cable television. Last year, she produced and performed a concert of standard and devotional songs at St. John's Church on Miami Beach.   Angela's repertoire features standards by such composers as Harold Arlen, Irving Berlin and John Lennon, among others.   Her world music is sung in Sanskrit, African, French and Yiddish.

Angela continues to study singing with Miami's Mary Walkley, founding director of the Broadway Theatre Project.   She has had private lessons with Broadway legend Ms. Barbara Cook, as well as Broadway and Television leading ladies Ms. Betty Buckley and Ms. Nancy Dussault.   Angela has also attended several master classes taught by Ms. Cook and Ms. Walkley.
